Irondequoit Bay from Newport Yacht Club
Newport Yacht Club was organized in 1936 through the efforts of the late Oscar Kuolt and several others. Its charter as a membership corporation under New York State law clearly stated ..its purpose: “To promote the sport of small boat sailing and small boat racing.” NYC website: https://www.newportyachtclubroc.com/ The club frequently holds fleet races for Laser and Snipe small sailboats, as well as non-one design cruising sailboats. The club is also home to Catalina 22 National Sailing Association Fleet 141. This camera is mounted on the Newport Yacht Club lighthouse on the west side of Irondequoit Bay just north of the Rt 104 bay bridge and is pointed towards the north east. To the far left, the sandbar and outlet to Lake Ontario can be seen. Current weather data is from a weather station located at the club on the south end of our east floating dock. You can view all the data from this weather station here: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboar... Here's a link to a static view of current lake condition: http://wwc.instacam.com/instacamimg/W... That image can be refreshed about every 5 minutes for a new image. Enjoy the view - sunrises can be spectacular!
