Fish Creek Road is a State Highway. Alaska DOT plows the road each morning prior to opening and will return as needed throughout the day. Eaglecrest is the highest road accessible point in Juneau. Be prepared for winter driving and use 4WD, AWD, studded tires, or chains whenever necessary.
Aloha, dear sweet people of Juneau. Happy Closing Day to you! Thank you for sticking with me another year in attempting to keep up with the twists and turns of this place.
Porcuine and Hooter are closing at 3:30 PM.
Break out the Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, and sunscreen—let’s make it a send-off to remember. Temps are already feeling tropical, with 36 degrees at the Nest and 37 at the base this morning. Expect steady winds at the summit around 15-20 mph and a mix of drizzle and mist throughout the day. Groomers will be your best bet—go soak up the spring corn on Motherlode, Cheechako, and Otter Slide.
Our mountain is saying “goodnight 24/25 season,” whether we’re ready to say goodbye or not. Come and get it while you can. Just keep in mind, there are obstacles everywhere. Expect variable conditions everywhere off-piste, and the West Side is expert terrain only.
A friendly reminder: the grill is closed today, but you’re encouraged to fire up your own BBQ in the parking lot. Rentals remain unavailable on the upper mountain due to our thin snowpack. The snowbus is also not running this weekend.
Special closing day treat! The Rain Dogs will be playing live in the parking lot from 3–5 PM, so stick around for the Hootenanny festivities.
Groomed Trails: Muskeg, Dolly Varden, Sourdough, Williwaw, Otter Slide, Throat, Easy Bowl, Motherlode, Cheechako, upper Sluice Box, Black Bear Access, and Raven & Log Jam Runouts. Porcupine, Hooter, and Ptarmigan lifts will spin from 9 AM - 4 PM.
Drive safe, have fun, and thanks for an incredible season—we’ll see you on the beach (lot)!
NORDIC UPDATE: April 6th, 6:30 AM Update
Good Morning Nordic Fans! Same as yesterday – the upper Nordic loop has been freshly groomed this morning. Expect fast, firm conditions early this morning and softer, warmer conditions come the afternoon.
Hooter will be open 9AM – 4PM for those who would like to take a ride up with their leashed nordic skis!
Stadium loop, cabin loop, showboat loop, Blackbear hill and loop, and a shortened Hilda out and back are all in.
