All gliders are accounted for. We are waiting to see whether we have valid results for all classes.

A few gliders have returned home from each class after completing their tasks. There is a local storm 10 km south of the airfield, so the pilots have been forced to fly around it.

DAILY SUMMARY

2025-04-23

The day 6th at the Pribina Cup 2025 in Nitra began with promising signs as the grid opened in the morning on Runway 15, anticipating reasonable soarable weather. The briefing outlined the day’s racing tasks, leading pilots north towards the Prievidza area before turning south along the Hungarian border, with distances ranging from 231 km to 308 km. The first launch was expected at 12:00, but after a weather check by the sniffer, the launch was postponed to 12:30. The launch phase saw all gliders airborne within 40 minutes of towing. Early progress indicated that many pilots had successfully navigated the first turnpoint quickly before heading to the southern turnpoints. However, the weather presented a mixed bag, with some rain reported around the initial turn and less promising conditions further south, characterized by a lack of significant cumulus clouds, potentially making the southern leg more challenging. Despite the earlier tricky conditions in the south, some lifts were found by the pilots, with cumulus tops reaching around 1,400 meters QNH. The first arrivals back at Nitra were anticipated around 16:15. By 17:10, the majority of gliders had successfully returned home, with only one outlanding reported. The final confirmation came soon after with the reassuring news that all gliders were safely counted back, marking another successful day of flying. We extend our thanks to everyone involved in ensuring a smooth day of competition, with the final results expected to follow shortly.
