Sacred Heart Of Jesus

sacred-heartThe month of June has traditionally been set aside as a time for veneration of and prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Feast of the Sacred Heart is always celebrated on the Friday following Corpus Christi, this year – the 27th of June.  In honour of the Scared Heart, we will pray the annual Novena each day around Mass times from Thursday 19th June and copies of the Novena prayers will be available in the Church or can be downloaded below.  On Sunday 22nd June, Sacred Heart pictures will be blessed at Masses in conjunction with eh consecration of Ireland to the Sacred Heart at Knock Shrine on that day.  Anyone of certain generation will always remember the Sacred Heart picture hanging at home, it may have been faded through the years and handed down from past generations, but it proudly hung on our walls as an act of devotion but also as a petition asking God to bless and protect our homes and our lives.  This year, as the world seems to fall ever more into confusion and hatred, warfare and destruction, it is a good time to consider returning to that old devotion and prayer, not only to ask God’s blessing and protection on our own lives, but to remind us to pray daily for those most in need of our help and God’s blessing at this time.  Why not join in an extra prayer this month, for even if God’s grace falls on only one soul in need, that prayer is worth endless riches to some life.

About

“A lawyer, to disconcert Jesus, put a question , ‘Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?’  Jesus said, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the greatest and the first commandment.  The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself.  On these two hang the whole Law and the Prophets also’.

Matthew 22:35-40
