Located in the east of the province of Liège between the Hautes-Fagnes and the Ardennes, the Royal Yacht Club Warche takes advantage of the exceptional site of Lake Bütgenbach to allow its members and their occasional visitors to indulge in their favorite sport . More exposed to the wind than Lake Roberville, Lake Bütgenbach also allows windsurfing. Some members sail in a small cabin, while the rowers practice canoeing and kayaking. We are a private club with a fleet of boats for initiation or to help out its members: to benefit from this, become a “member without boat” – we do not rent boats to non-members. The RYCW opens its doors to visitors to give them an overview of its activities and introduce them to various types of boats, by observing a regatta (dinghy race) and taking a free ride in a sailing boat (Caravelle) with an experienced helmsman. ) on Lake Bütgenbach.
For many years, Lake Bütgenbach has attracted water sports enthusiasts, especially during the summer months. This is why the RYCW has set up its base since 1958 in this beautiful natural setting, which lends itself well to sailing activities. Once a year, on the first Sunday in July, the RYCW opens its doors to visitors to give them an overview of its activities and present various types of boats...
History
Since 1937 (82 years in 2020!), the RYCW has successfully strived to make the sport of sailing accessible to all it has around 200 members, who sail with family or friends. The club is at the center of community life.
Sensation
Sailing yachting brings man face to face with his individual qualities. No motor, no machine intervenes. The mind is king who directs and commands. The game is played with the body, the boat, the elements. This is where the individual comes in, everyone has their own technique that needs to be improved while improving themselves. Objective
The objective of the club is clearly oriented towards the sailing regatta, as evidenced by the program: the most active members also receive an “activity bonus” (contribution reduction). The club also organizes other more family-friendly activities: walks, barbecues, etc.
