The Atlantic hurricane season runs each year from June 1 to Nov. 30. The most active time is late August into October, but it's possible to see a hurricane make landfall any time of the year.

Chance for isolated showers and a few storms will continue mainly in the Sandhills/southern Coastal Plain into the overnight hours as Chantal works its way closer to North Carolina. Temperatures overnight will drop to around 70°. Showers and some thunderstorms are likely into Sunday as Chantal works its way through the region.
