TEXT/EMAIL SCAM ALERT: STAY ALERT AND CHECK THE ADDRESS! Recently, there has been an uptick of SMS text message and email scams in an attempt to fraudulently collect tolls. E-ZPass and Tolls By Mail WILL NEVER send a text or email requesting sensitive personal information such as credit card, birthday, Social Security number, or other personally identifiable information. A REAL TEXT will come from 39769, begins with EZPNY. Fake texts are sent from an international #, requests to reply with "Y" to receive the link, and contains an unofficial website.
If in doubt, call E-ZPass at 1-800-333-8655 or Tolls by Mail at 1-844-826-8400 - or email: ezpassny@thruway.ny.gov for assistance. Real communications will only refer customers to the following official websites: EZPassNY.com and TollsByMailNY.com. If you receive this fraudulent SMS and would like to file a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center please visit, www.ic3.gov.
